Utah licensed electrical contractor with Master-level scoping on every project.

Diagnostics first

We test and prove the fault before anything gets replaced, so you pay for the fix.

Scheduled around you

Clear arrival windows Monday through Friday, 8 to 5, and a crew that cleans up.

Permits handled

Permits, utility coordination and inspection sign-off taken care of for you.

Meter Upgrades

The equipment the utility will not touch

Rocky Mountain Power owns the meter; you own the socket, the mast and everything behind it. When they red-tag your equipment, that is our work.

Meter Base Replacement

Corroded, burned or cracked sockets replaced with correctly rated equipment and new terminations.

Combo Meter-Main Panels

Meter-main combination units installed where the service entrance and main disconnect are combined.

Meter Relocation

Moving the meter for additions, decks, siding, garages or clearance violations, coordinated with the utility.

Mast & Weatherhead Repair

Bent, pulled or leaking masts repaired or replaced, including riser and clearance corrections.

Red Tag Corrections

Utility disconnect notices and inspection corrections turned around quickly so your power comes back.

Permit & Reconnect

Permit, inspection and meter release handled, with the reconnect scheduled the same day where possible.

How a meter upgrade runs

Meter work always involves the utility, so the schedule matters as much as the labor. We front-load the coordination.

  1. 1
    Assessment

We inspect the socket, mast, conductors and grounding, and photograph the condition for the permit and utility.

  2. 2
    Permit and disconnect

Permit pulled and the utility disconnect scheduled so the outage window is planned, not open-ended.

  3. 3
    Replacement

New base or combo unit set, conductors re-terminated, mast and clearances corrected, everything sealed weathertight.

  4. 4
    Inspection and meter set

AHJ final, meter release issued, utility resets the meter, and we verify voltage before we leave.

Meter Upgrades FAQs

Meter upgrade questions

The power company disconnected my service and said to call an electrician. What does that mean?+

It means the equipment you own, usually the meter socket or mast, failed their inspection. They will not reconnect until a licensed electrician repairs it, the city inspects it and the utility receives the meter release. We handle all three steps.

Who owns the meter, me or Rocky Mountain Power?+

The utility owns the meter itself. You own the socket it plugs into, the mast, the service conductors on your side and the panel. That is why meter socket repairs are billed to the homeowner.

How long will power be off for a meter base replacement?+

Typically four to eight hours on the day of the change-out, depending on how fast the utility releases and resets. We schedule the inspector in the same window to avoid an overnight outage.

Can the meter be moved to a different wall?+

Usually yes, with utility approval. Cost depends on how far the new location is from the drop or lateral and whether trenching is needed. We confirm with the utility before quoting.

Is a meter upgrade the same as a service upgrade?+

Not necessarily. You can replace a damaged meter base while keeping the same amperage. Increasing amperage means new conductors and usually a new panel too, which is a full service upgrade.
