Lighting Upgrades

Lighting that changes how a room feels

Most homes have one flat layer of light. We add task, accent and ambient layers on separate controls, which is what makes a space feel finished.

Recessed Can Lighting

New cans laid out on spacing that avoids scallops and hot spots, installed in finished ceilings with minimal patching.

Under-Cabinet & Cove

Hardwired LED tape and puck lighting with hidden drivers, dimmable and color-matched to your fixtures.

LED Retrofits

Old cans, fluorescents and halogens converted to LED with correct trim, lumen output and 2700K to 4000K selection.

Fixture Replacement

Chandeliers, vanities, ceiling fans, pendants and high-ceiling fixtures swapped safely with proper support.

Dimmers, Timers & Smart Controls

Compatible dimmers, occupancy sensors, timers and smart switches that work with your bulbs instead of flickering.

Exterior & Landscape

Path, uplight, soffit and security lighting on photocells and timers, wired to weatherproof standards.

How a lighting upgrade runs

The difference between good and bad lighting is layout and control, not fixture price. We spend the time on both before anyone cuts a hole.

  1. 1
    Walk and layout

We look at ceiling height, furniture, cabinets and windows, and mark fixture locations on the ceiling before drilling.

  2. 2
    Fixture and control spec

Lumens, beam angle, color temperature and dimmer compatibility chosen together so nothing buzzes or flickers.

  3. 3
    Clean installation

Dust control, careful fishing and minimal drywall damage, with patch points identified ahead of time.

  4. 4
    Scene setup

We set dimmer ranges and walk you through the controls before we pack up.

Lighting Upgrades FAQs

Home lighting questions

How many recessed lights does a room need?+

A common starting point is spacing cans at roughly half the ceiling height apart and keeping them two to three feet off the walls, then adjusting for furniture and task areas. We lay it out on the ceiling with you before cutting.

Why do my LED lights flicker when dimmed?+

Almost always a dimmer and driver mismatch, a neutral-less dimmer on an LED load, or too few watts on the circuit for the dimmer's minimum load. Matching the dimmer to the fixture family fixes it.

What color temperature should I choose?+

2700K for living spaces and bedrooms, 3000K for kitchens and baths, 3500K to 4000K for shops and garages. The bigger rule is consistency: mixed color temperature in one sightline is what makes a room look off.

Can you add can lights without tearing up my ceiling?+

In most cases yes. Remodel-style housings and careful fishing from attic or joist bays handle the majority of installs. Where a joist or duct is in the way we will tell you before we start.

Do you install landscape and holiday lighting circuits?+

Yes. Exterior GFCI circuits, switched soffit receptacles on timers, transformer-fed low-voltage path lighting and uplighting are all common requests, especially in Park City and the east bench.
